Physical Security

  • Our Data Center facilities meet strict requirements for access and monitoring and are accredited by the Uptime Institute.

Infrastructure Security

When it comes to transmitting your digital assets to and from the data center, we employ both Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and Transport Socket Layer (TSL) security AND certificates.

This powerful combination provides you with the following security reassurances:

  • Using SSL and TSL we encrypt your data and each transaction includes bilateral authentication
  • With certificates (instead of just User IDs and Passwords) each user is uniquely identified. Each certificate is valid for one year, and Iron Mountain stores the certificate keys in our own secure facilities.

Data Security

  • Encrypted at Rest - All data at rest is encrypted (AES-256) with unique keys managed by the platform.
  • Strict Access Controls - Since we leverage a certificate model a customer can only access its own data, not another customer’s data.
  • Data Integrity - The platform computes SHA-256 hashes of the data and check hashes for discrepancies on each and every step of storage and retrieval.
  • Built-in Redundancy - All data is stored four times across two data centers.

While storing data is important, managing that data is more important and Iron Mountain is fully committed to delivering extensive information management tools and services to you. Today, you can easily manage retention, as well as destruction, on a per asset level via the Archive Services Platform API and Command Line Tools.
